Mood Changes

What it feels like

Mood changes can range from a gentle shift to irritability to angry outbursts, anxiety and rage

Why it happens

Estrogen helps regulate some of our feel-good hormones like serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine. As estrogen levels change, we may experience variations in those hormones as well. Sleep disturbances, brain fog, stress and other menopause symptoms can cause mood changes too.

Mood changes can be sudden and severe. If you are feeling hopeless or thinking of harming yourself, see your physician or text 988 for immediate help.

According to the 200,000 respondents who have taken our Menopause Assessment:

‍

60%

of people experience mood changes in menopause

‍

‍
